A short hike along a perennial creek, Cherry Creek makes a pleasant and well-shaded option for warm days. The trail starts at the Cherry Creek Campground and wanders through a grassy area on the east side of the road for about half a mile before crossing over NM 15 and dropping into Cherry Creek Canyon. The trail crosses the creek several times before petering out at a small tank that makes a nice place for a dip if the rains have been generous.
